C. Gary Lunt
1935 - Present
Born in Colonia Pacheco, Mexico, Gary Lunt rose from humble ranch beginnings to a distinguished thirty-year career in the U.S. Air Force, where he earned his wings, commanded units, taught at the Air Force Academy, and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. A devoted husband and father of five, he married Lorie Perry in 1956 and built a life centered on family, faith, and service. Following retirement as a Colonel in 1988, he and his wife dedicated themselves to leadership roles in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including missions in Argentina (twice), and Costa Rica. His life reflects resilience, faith, and service to both country and church.
“I wanted them to know first of all, that I love the Lord... Second: I wanted my family to know that I love them to the extent that I would give my all for them. Third: I wanted them to know that I love my country.”
— Gary Lunt, on why he wrote his autobiography
